ABOUT US

Creating Value

Emerisque is a specialist private equity sponsor founded in 2004 that operates from the UK, USA and Hong Kong for the acquisition of or investment in medium-sized, established Western consumer brands and vertical retailers with critical mass in their core markets and potential for rapid scale in the newer world economies and distribution channels. We are largely product category agnostic in considering opportunities that meet our investment criteria.

Compelling economic and demographic evidence suggests the most significant opportunities for value creation open to established Western brands lies in the growth markets, in particular, Greater China, Greater Russia, India, and the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) - the C.R.I.M. markets - as well as in growth channels such as ecommerce and travel retail. We believe that, in the medium term, dollar for dollar, return on investment in these growth markets and channels can be double or treble than that of similar investments in mature markets and channels in North America, Western Europe and Japan. The growth markets require a strategic rather than an opportunistic approach, and resources are applied such that the materially different value drivers of mature and growth markets can be simultaneously managed, and execution risks are systematically mitigated through the application of knowledge, experience, relationships, planning and adequate capital.

Emerisque’s mission is to identify and invest in established brands and vertical retailers with brand, product and value propositions that are perceived to have the capacity for global and omni-channel relevance. Our investment thesis is to preserve or restore a brand’s vitality and position in its home/core markets and channels and strategically unleash its true value potential to the rest of the world and in newer distribution channels, by complementing management teams of investee businesses with our proven, specialist resources. Exit opportunities for investments, in addition to all standard options, are linked to focussed exploitation of growth markets and investors.
